AWEARNESS An Exclusive Sneak Peek!

Sundance Volunteer Group & Kenneth Cole!

I am excited to share this amazing news that was sent to me directly!  I hope you love it just as much a I did.

AWEARNESS, THE KENNETH COLE FOUNDATION DEBUTS THE FIRST-EVER VIGNETTE HONORING VOLUNTEERS AT THE 2012 SUNDANCE FESTIVAL

WHO:            Fashion designer and social activist, Kenneth Cole & the 2012 Sundance Film Festival

WHAT:        AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation collaborated with Sundance Institute on the development of a vignette celebrating the Festival volunteers that will debut at this year’s Festival.   Titled “One Good Deed,” the vignette was written by Kenneth Cole Productions and produced and directed by Ricki Stern and Anne Sundberg of Break Thru Films (directors of the documentary “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work”).

The vignette will be shown at the start of all films being screened at the Festival on January 25th, Volunteer Appreciation Day. The vignette stars Derek Waters and is a comedic spoof about what happens when he is mistaken for a Festival volunteer after inadvertently being handed an official Kenneth Cole 2012 Sundance Film Festival volunteer jacket.   Derek’s work includes:  “Hall Pass,”  “He’s Just Not That Into You,” and creator of “Drunk History.”

Signage featuring a QR Code enabling people to watch the vignette on their mobile devices, and reminding them to thank the volunteers for their tireless efforts, will be also displayed throughout the Festival on Volunteer Appreciation Day.

“So much of what Sundance Institute is able to do is made possible only by the generous and extraordinary spirit of many individuals,” says Kenneth Cole.  “I’ve long said that it’s the volunteers who are the real stars of the Sundance Film Festival, and this collaboration was our way of thanking them for everything that they do.”

For the eighth year in a row, Kenneth Cole has designed and donated the uniform that is worn by the 1,800+ Sundance Film Festival volunteers and staff.  Presented on Day One of the Festival, this year’s iconic style is a warm red down-filled jacket featuring channel quilting, welt pockets, and zip-off sleeves.

On January 19th, Kenneth Cole announced the Gayle Stevens Sundance Institute “Volunteer of the Year” Award presented by AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation.   Kenneth Cole has been an advocate for the Institute’s mission and dedicated supporter of Sundance Film Festival volunteers since 2003.
